The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation is an organisation closely linked to the Swedish Moderate party. Its work is mainly financed via SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) within the frame of the development aid connected to PAO (Party Affiliated Organizations).
Democratic support through organisations connected to political parties aim at democratic development, increased respect for human rights and equal opportunities for women and men. The purpose is to contribute to the development of a well-functioning party system, political participation, democratic political systems, and to promote a representative form of government.
The democratic support is directed to parties and organisations in countries defined as recipients of development aid, according to the guidelines from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and its aid committee DAC.
